As I am sure most everyone has discovered by now: GW has done something actually very cool. They have made a little Cypher (hint…hint) on the bindings of each White Dwarf so far this year. With two issues so far a figure is starting to take shape.
So I think with this little rumor gift from GW I want to reiterate something I have been reporting for the last year or so. Along with knowing now that the 6th box set is done and in production I want to clearly state what has not changed since the release of the Grey Knights.
The release schedule for 40k 2012 is…
April-May: Dark Angels/Fallen
June-Aug: 6th Ed/Box Set DA vs. CSM
Oct-Nov: Chaos Space Marines/Fallen
There is no Tau, no Black Templars, no Eldar. I want this on the record so strike me down if I am wrong! I am only re-reporting this schedule because I think people have been lead astray by all the false talk of other codices.
I also want to go on the record saying that the Chaos Space Marine codex will not be two books. That was an old rumor from about 5 years ago that got resurrected last year for some infernal reason.
As well another reminder that 6th ed leak pdf is a not the real deal!
Now I’m horny.
Most legit-sounding stuff I’ve heard in yonks.

Whats the fallen portion about?
I’m a big fan of the Deathwing, so this is welcome news. However, a buddy of mine plays Tau and will be shattered as he was waiting for the new Tau codex before returning to the game. He was…shall we say… a little Jaded by the way his Tau gets swept everytime in 5th ed.
Tell your friend to stop being a bad player. They aren’t that bad of a codex!
Well…tau are certainly hard to win with, but to be honest, they are not terrible. It is not an easy army to master, but is by no means down and out.
so from this I take it black templars arent getting a book late winter early spring like I kept hearing.
maybe if I rearrange my C&D letters from GW legal and scry the 2012 release schedule. I mean GW leaves hints on everything they touch, right?

How about we go with the binding art being, just binding art… Remember encyclopedias? If rumors build from something that is ment to be decorative on your book shelf, then truly all these people with “sources” are full of it. It’s decorative people, so it looks good on your book shelves.
Hahaha, let me guess, DA Codex “made with 6th Edition” in mind? DA players get to be a beta test for the next Vanilla Marines codex again.

Why should we trust you? Also I never notcied the white dwarf thing, fairly cool….what is it?
considering the thickness of the issues and how little of the pic we have, I would wager that the total image is new cover/related artwork for the new 6th ed rule book/promo material. it will take at least another 4-5 issues before we have a decent picture.
That being the case (and if it actually IS indicating a DA codex), wouldn’t that place the release of the DA codex in direct timing conflict with the 6th ed release?

Another Marine codex? Whoop dee fucking doo. Once again GW gives a giant middle finger to all the Tau players out there.
Okay. So the boxed set is space marines vs space marines? *yawn* anyone else finding that boring to say the least?
Interesting what you have stated here about the Chaos codex Tasty, as it goes against what has been stated by some fairly decent “peeps in the know” over on Warseer, plus JJ let it slip out at a Games Day in the UK many moons back that there would be 2 books for Chaos. But, as with all this rumour nonsense heaps of salt and then some and I will just await for the actual news from GW themselves.
Personally, I already have 3 Chaos armies: 1 Legion, 1 Renegade and 1 Lost and the damned, just hedging my bets….
I would really not be suprised if the WD-bindings would reveal a mix of marines as generic poster-figures for 6th edition, and DA just happends to stand in the left of the picture
Ha ha , poor Tau thinking they get left out again, have heart to all the SoB players who didn’t even get a codex, but some slap work, cut-paste second rate so called codex.
Me, i think it’s a sneak peak towards 6th ed with Dark Angels getting the codex.
As said, just hope they don’t rip everything cool out of it for Vanilla Marines again

So far it looks like the “Shadows of Treachery” picture the Black Library gave away as a desktop wallpaper over Xmas…
So with the White Dwarf thing, basically all GW did was figure out how to add even more advertisements to their monthly catalog.
Two things:
1. Everybody who starts or repeats a rumour has a secret informant who is beyond reproach but can’t be named …………………….. so read at your own peril
2. Try fanning through the last two White dwarfs pages really quickly to see if there is any hidden message or animation there giving a hint to what is next. I an sure there must be. subliminal advertising in paper form.
Even if the box set is DA + Chaos, why do the rumours always say the codexes are out at the same time?
Look at WHFB. High Elves haven’t had a book since 2007 and Skaven got there’s some time before 8th too.
I, for one, am glad the CSM are getting their update. Hopefully renegade guardsmen are part of their forces.
