Tits for Tournaments: Nova Open 2015 Top 16 Lists

Nova Open 2015 just finished over Labor Day weekend, bringing together some of the best players in the world to face off in an orgy of competitive 40k. 2015 Nova Open found itself in a familiar place of many 40k events not occurring on the West Coast: declining 40k attendance. Now, from all reports the Nova Open had better overall attendance when you combine all the game systems together. As it was, the 40k Championships had about 164 players, down from 228 players two years ago.
The lower attendance by all means didn’t stop the greats from showing up. 40k high rollers were in full effect with recognizable names like Tony Kopach, Nick Rose, Alan Pajama Pants, and Nick Nanavati participating. In the end though Aaron Aleong swept both the Open and Invitational without losing any games, to put in perspective Aaron went 13-0 over 4 grueling days! That is some serious gaming, and he did it with Dark Angels and Space Wolf allies.
Before we take a look at the lists though, I think it is very important to understand the format Nova Open runs, namely no Super Heavies or Gargantuan Creatures. It meant you didn’t see Imperial Knights or Wraith Knights and with loose restrictions on psychic powers Death Stars were expected to reign. Judging by the lists about half of the Top 16 used such super friends tactics, still it didn’t stop other lists from performing well, namely Space Marine Battle Companies.
