BoK Reviews: White Dwarf Issue #110

White Dwarf Issue #110: Genestealer Cult Uprising!

White Dwarf reviews operate differently than other Blood of Kittens Reviews. The goal with these reviews is to place a value for each issue. The rating system is one to four stars, each star represents $1 in value, to a max of four dollars. The review values are also Warhammer 40k based; Age of Sigmar dedicated issues will still be reviewed, but valued for Warhammer 40k players. It means you could see many low valued issues, with a general Games Workshop hobbyist actually valuing them more. Keep this in mind when deciding if a particular White Dwarf Issue is good for you.

Contents: New Releases

While the focus of this issue is clearly on last week releases of Deathwatch: Overkill, GW still attempts to sandwitch in some Sigmar love. We get two Start Collecting set for the Undead and Skaven armies, along with a Battletome for Skaven and the Virulent Horde mega box. Black Library joins in the fray with two no one is going to read Sigmar novels.

Contents: Unholy Infestation

This portion of the White Dwarf goes into great detail describing the Genestealer Cults; this is a great way new and old players can learn about Genestealer Cults start and grow over time. As an old timers you can see GW cleaning up the past history of these cults, removing the 20s noir feel along with any mention of Chaos taint.

Final Verdict

Issue #110 more Overkill promotion with some SIgmar Rat love. The Genestealer Cult History lesson and free rules really makes this a great White Dwarf for any Tyranid player. The paint splatters also don’t hurt.
