BoK Reviews: White Dwarf Issue #119

White Dwarf Issue #119: The Flesh-Eater Courts

White Dwarf reviews operate differently than other Blood of Kittens Reviews. The goal with these reviews is to place a value for each issue. The rating system is one to four stars, each star represents $1 in value, to a max of four dollars. The review values are also Warhammer 40k based; Age of Sigmar dedicated issues will still be reviewed, but valued for Warhammer 40k players. It means you could see many low valued issues, where a general Games Workshop hobbyist actually valuing them more. Keep this in mind when deciding if a particular White Dwarf Issue is good for you.

Contents: New Releases

These new releases in all honesty are pathetic. We have reboxing of Warhammer Fantasy models with the re-release of Crypt Ghouls, Terrogheist, and the new Crypt Flayers. In addition, we see the Flesh-Eater Courts Battletome. Black Library is also releasing the Echoes of the Long War the sixth book in the Beast Arises series. Forge World gives us some Space Wolves Upgrades for the Horus Heresy.

Contents: Mustering for War

This is going to be a mini-rant. If you have to waste pages publishing multiple how to play articles for a game, your game is in trouble. The Mustering for War demonstrates all the “amazing” ways you can play Age of Sigmar. It is a total sign of desperation, and with the soon to be announced point costs for units, a complete contradiction to the “infinite” ways to play. Players want clear rules with restrictions not make believe time with plastic toys.

What is GW saying?

Released May, 7th 2016

We explore a truly horrific corner of the Mortal Realms this week as the Flesh-eater Courts make their ghastly presence known. To go alongside the emergence of this horrific new faction, we provide an extensive and in-depth feature on just some of the many ways in which you can organise and play games of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. White Dwarf 119 also sports a Wazbom Blastajet painting guide, a look at Sten Frodin’s prize-winning entry into Golden Demon Space Marines and a very nice Exocrine. Don’t miss your copy

Contents: Paint Splatter

This Paint Splatter has techniques for painting your Ork Flyers in the Evil Sunz Clan scheme and isn’t anything we haven’t already seen.

Contents: Golden Demon Space Marines

Sten Frodin from Sweden shows off his Gold winning Squad of Imperial Fists Marines. The yellow looks great, but the crisp look actually doesn’t stand out much making me wonder how it actually won.

Final Verdict

Issue #119 falls is hands down the worst White Dwarf of the year, with no content, but a desperate plea to play Age of Sigmar this is weekly filler at its worse.
