Tits for Tournaments: Bay Area Open 2016 Top Legal Lists and Pictures!

Warning

Tits for Tournaments is rated factually opinionated. Expect results, army lists, and some light bitching about boring spam lists to follow.

Yesterday, BAO 2016 came to a close with over a 170 players dukeing it out to become champion. BAO was quickly turning into a Matt Root ITC champion coronation, until he was upended by a tie game and a Dark Angel player swooping in to take it all! The top table battle between Matt Root and Andrew Ford saw wild swings, as Matt lost his Imperial Knight round one to a Warp Hunter only to have that same Warp Hunter end the game killing Andrew’s own Wraithknight by an incredible blast deviation. This end the game with a tie! Overall, Eldar were stopped from dominating the event as it seemed they would, going into the final rounds.

The BAO wasn’t without drama either, as it has been a constant theme for all of 7th edition we had some illegal lists. Once again confusion over Space Wolves unit interactions, along with the terribly written Forge World Doom of Mymeara book, lead to a few would be contenders either dropping or being penalized. This constant problem just never seems to end, and expect it to continue for the foreseeable future.

The final 10 comprised…

  • 1 Dark Angel
  • 1 Astra Militarum
  • 2 Daemons
  • 2 Ad-Mech
  • 2 Space Marines
  • 2 Eldar

Pretty balanced spread when you think about it, and more amazingly 11th and 12th in the rankings were Blood Angel players! I thought Daemons were going to do better, but other than that things turned out pretty close to what I expected.
