Friday Night Internet Fight: Round 37

In honor of all the new crap going on over here this week, I’ve decided to innovate and try some new things with this week’s FNIF.  I can assure you that this has nothing to with realizing that my semester is nearly over and having to scramble to fill out financial aid paperwork before the deadline.  What kinds of irresponsible person would do something like that? 

Sincere apologies to MagicJuggler and a few others who sent me some quality fights this week.  Unfortunately, due to time constraints and lack of desire to put some order to some of the threads in question, I wasn’t able to use any of them this week.  Magicjuggler’s thread, though, at least deserves some mention, so I’ll get to that over the weekend.  Plus, it still seems pretty active, so who knows what kind of shit is still yet to come…

For this week’s fight, though, I chose something crazy.  You could consider this a case of everyone in the universe v. Games Workshop.  Unless you only leave your cave on Fridays to catch up with all of the exciting things you’re missing on Dick Move, you probably noticed that GW “accidentally” leaked a photo of what is presumed to be the forthcoming Stormraven model.  The backlash was instantaneous.  Look at any forum or blog and there are likely to be people trashing the new model.  Yes, there are a few who like it, but those people seem to be in startlingly short supply.  I really can’t blame anybody for hating a model that looks to hang in the air the way a brick doesn’t.

In my daily trolling of DakkaDakka, I found this little gem that both announces and talks shit about the new model.  This time around, we’re going to be determining who has the best insult for the Stormraven.  There are a lot of things in the thread that made me lol out loud.  Now here’s the awesome part- I’ve saved you the pain of ever having to read through the now 10+ endless pages of inane chatter and “+1s” that are there.  You won’t have to read (unless you’re a masochist and want to) about aerodynamics, the A-10 Warthog, or any of that shit.  Now, if you do hate yourself feel free to read it.  There are actually some remarkably good-looking photoshopped pics as well as a short and mildly entertaining fight that almost gets the thread locked down.  If the fight were a little longer or more vitriolic, that might have been this week’s fight.  I guess we’ll never know. 

As ever, none of the names have been picked to protect the innocent, but their avatars have been for my own amusement.  There is a poll that you should vote on to pick this week’s winner.  Thanks to the wonderous powers of my move to WordPress, I’ll be trying out some new things with the poll this week.  It should be not only showing up in the right hand column, but it should also be embedded at the bottom of this post.  Additionally, you can vote twice this week- how cool is that?  Now make sure you vote, otherwise the Republicans may take back the house.  I will not be snowmobiling anybody this week.  As I already mentioned, time was short and there really isn’t anything I can add to something that’s already insulting.  Enjoy the fight…

The_Operator: Yea…. considering that was the main reason I was excited for Blood Angels, I’m Kinda not feeling it… Looks like they took two valk engines with wings, and attached them to the front part of a thunderhawk, and then glued on the tail fin from the thunderhawk… I mean I get that this is sci-fi, but as far as combat drop ships go, thats gotta be the most unbalanced crate ever. I can’t imagine it flying, which is a big reason I’m not feeling it.

vitki- I dub it the chibi-hawk ~ok, I lied there is 1 snowmobile for today.  I ask that please, for the love of all that is holy, we prevent this term from EVER catching on.  The last thing the world needs is another fucking anime reference.

MajorTom11- Aerodynamics are heresy.

Sgt. Roadkill- ugh its vile.

Miraclefish- I’m gonna call it the Chunderhawk!

Slipstream- Actually if you think Ork it makes perfect sense; looks front heavy, it’ll never fly and its painted red. Its an Ork plane on secondment to the Blood Angels! On second thoughts it reminds me of a puffer fish.

Arschbombe- Where’s the guy who dropped the daemon prince mold? Somebody see if he can drop this one too!

Flachzange- flying school bus ftl.

olympia- The proportions are all wrong. It reminds me of…..

Breotan-

Mithrax- Looks like a thunderhawk that ran into a mountain and got accordioned.

Spireland- I realized what they are doing. There is so much demand for this model, they are reducing demand by makingthe thing so ugly you don’t want it.

H.B.M.C.- If we can get BLOS to call it the Chibi-Hawk (when they report this as Breaking News a week from now), then it will stick.

Grim Smasha- Ummmmmmm. . .Uhhhhhhhh. . .Ehhhhhhhhh. . .Frankly. . . .It looks like a giant anal suppository. It’s complete crap. One of the worst models they’ve ever made and that includes the original Land Raider, the original tyranid line, those really manly looking slaanesh chicks from a million years ago. I would rather make my own then use that absolutely stupid model. Dimensionally, it looks incapable of flight. Honestly, all the weight’s in the front. I just don’t see how it can fly. . .unless it depends on anti-grav engines or some other sci-fi magic. Sadness has eaten my soul. Seriously, what’s up with those ridiculous bubble turrets. This isn’t supposed to be a WWII bomber. *Sigh* I’m done. . .until it comes out and I make fun it every game that I play that has one it in, for the entire game. .

Asherian Command- I wish I could destroy all memory of this event.

   Also coontains a link to Warseer pointing the blurb about how the Stormbrick is supposed to be this fast, extremely maneuverable and deadly transport. Yeah right.

   Actually, I kinda like this little chunky monkey vehicle, even if it is painted in Blood Angels livery. Anyone using the term ‘chibi’ needs a punch in the dick/vagina. It makes me want to vomit blood.

   With all those who are screaming about aerodynamics can piss off, the fucking front is sloped, it has wings, what the fuck more do you want? I can’t understand the vehement hatred this is getting.

   In addition, it puts me in mind of the old skool Star Wars toys, you remember the one man ships Kenner released that were never actually in the movies? Its a win win, IMO.
