Well, it looks like my triumphant return to blogging after a hellish two weeks may be slightly delayed, but we’re going to forge ahead nonetheless and try something new for FNIF, since a few of you were really chomping at the bit last week when I missed it.

Hey, you have a professor move a paper deadline up almost a full week on you and see how well you fare.  Bottom line, in addition to other finals, I researched, wrote, edited, and performed lots of very fuzzy math for a 20 page paper in the span of about 3 days. (more…)

Friday Night Tabletop Fight

Hey there everybody, just to dispel those Stelekian rumors that I don’t play40k or only ever play in my basement, here is some photographic evidence of a super awesome fun time game I got in with Sandwyrm at Adepticon.  He’s got a nice batrep up that you can check out.  There is ample opportunity for you to make fun of my making two big ass mistakes (oh and dropping a Vendetta on the floor….) which cost me the game.

 

I had a blast and hope to get in a game with him again the next time he’s in town.  Sandwyrm is a true gentleman and even loaned me a bit of glue for some quick repairs. It was also great to finally find out which Sandwyrm he’s based his name on….but I’ll never tell…

Friday Night Internet Fight: Round 2.7

Holy shit, that week flew by.  Congratulations to Herald of Nurgle for squeaking out the win in last week’s epic fight (think I’m going to start putting previous winners here from now on since I’ve done fuck all with the polls for the last 6 months).  Honorable mention goes to Lauby for pulling second place and shit.  Also, I had a discussion about swearing in blog post a while back and learned that if your first paragraph or first few lines contain profanity, advertisers will generally avoid your shit- so suck my dick, taint, and balls advertisers.

This wee we’re going super old school with a fight about Dark Angel veteran squads of all things.  Yeah, I know what you’re thinking- ‘Man, Dark Angels are the coolest, hippest thing around.  How does dethtron keep up with such a cutting-edge lifestyle?  This is clearly a real fashion forward moment that we shall all be able to look back upon fondly.”  There is some priceless stuff to be found in this Warseer thread, though, so try and keep up. My Empire Fantasy Wish List

For both of you readers that give a shit about WFB and the Empire, let’s do some brainstorming about what may be in the pipe for the Empire.  It’s pretty probable that we’ll be getting a new book in the not too distant future, right?  Of course it is.

I haven’t really seen any concrete rumors with a date or anything yet, but I think we all know it’s coming.  Now, based on the precedent set since the newer Skaven book, I think it’s pretty safe to say that we’re going to get a greatly expanded choice of large units and maybe even some monstrous cavalry.  Think about it.  The Skaven got the Hellpit Abomination and characters that can ride rat ogres and various types of litters and giant ratties.  Orcs and Goblins got the Arachnarok.  Tomb Kings are getting that big fucking sphinx thing and some skeletons riding big fucking snakes.

I’m not sure what monstrous cavalry might look like for the Empire, or if they would even be getting any, but I can tell you for damn sure that we need the War Wagon back for our jumbo kit (although a big ass Imperial Dragon could be pretty swank as well).  For those of you who, like me, need a wayback machine to go back to when you started playing, you might remember the War Wagon.  I remember seeing it at the comic store I used to go to when I was picking up the latest Marvel abortion or whatever part of the arc DC was currently shitting out breaking Batman or killing off Superman.  This was, actually just before I started gaming (other than Battletech and maybe Hero Quest, if that counts).  I remember looking at that kit and just itching to play the game though.  Here’s to hoping we get it back, it’s been gone for too long and the Empire needs some new old toys.  Hell, it’d even be inline with GW’s tendency to resurrect old nostalgia items.
