Tales from Real Life

Long time no see dear readers.  As I began my semi-hiatus this summer, I promised to make some form of regular return to this blog and I damn well intend to keep that promise.  It’s going to be rough going for me for a little bit, having just returned to the working world in a retail management position that pays almost enough for me to cover all of my bills.  Thankfully Dr. Girlfriend, bless her heart, has for some reason agreed to take over a few of the bills that have been my responsibility while I continue to toil away in retail hell and seek to find financing for my own business without giving up a significant equity stake (this is looking like it may happen soon, fingers crossed).  I won’t spill the beans on what that business is yet, but I’m firmly believe that it will turn my chosen industry on its head and make me a fair amount of cash in the process.  Yeah also it’ll turn me into one of those “job creators” the fuckwit republican party won’t shut the fuck up about.  I look forward to paying a fair share of taxes and contributing to some much needed infrastructure investment in the future. Fun Times with Ebay

The summer of selfishness continues…..

I’ll have some pics up of the newly completed gaming room/basement shortly, but thought I’d interrupt all of that noise to share with you my new plans for “operation pay the mortgage” which now has me selling off tons of my unused stuff at low low prices on ebay.  If you’ve ever wanted to own your very own set of issues 4-20 of No quarter, they could be yours.

Seriously, though, go check the auctions out, there’s lots of good stuff to be had and you’ll be helping out a good cause….me.  I’ve got quite a lot of Cygnar stuff for warmachine as well as all of my Mercenaries and a few Menoth odds and ends.  Hell I’ve even got some out of print GW modls and a set of epic 40k dice so old that I’ve forgotten what they were even for.  But that’s not all, there are tons of video games, new and old, and a fucking Gamecube!

The Bloggers of Blogging: Putting some swagger in the stylish blogger awards: the art of obnoxiously long titles!.

With real life taking precedence over fake Internet life with my fake persona and my persona’s secret alter ego, I have not had time to respond to the 3 separate Stylish Blogger award nominations that I’ve received in the last week or so.  Thanks to Lauby, Dave G, and the Antipope in reverse order for nominating me- now please people, stop sending me invitations to join your damn pyramid scheme!

Along with the huge cash prize I have received in my mind, comes the responsibility of sending awards out to 10-15 bloggers and sharing 7 things about myself (I think numerology suggests everything you need to know about that last bit).  Now here’s where things get interesting.  If I invest $1,000 at the ground level and each person I invite invests $1,000, I will get $100 from each of them, and 1/2 that amount for every person up the chain who is invited.  Next, we all begin working for Primerica, consolidate all of mankind’s debts into a single 30 year loan bearing a 4% interest rate, and solve world hunger.  It’s beautiful in its simplicity.

Safe Return

I loved my jaunt around the southeast bit of England very much, but it feels great to be home.  Thanks to the Business School at University of Kent for having me out and an extra special to the first person ever to introduce potato to hot oil, making sure that nearly every single meal I found came with chips (those that did not came with mash…).  Seriously UK, what’s up with all those chips- there are other starches that can be placed on a menu.  Ok, so I’m being a little over general, I ate lots of delicious things- Welsh rarebit, pasties, lots of shellfish, many delicious puddings, etc, but I honestly can say that I’ve never eaten the amount of chips (french fries) as I have in the last week.  (more…)
