Dark Eldar – Poisoned Skies

So last week I decided to play test a new dark eldar build to see what I thought of it. I’ve got a little over two months before wargames con, and some how it feels more difficult. I’ve finished all my wytches, pictures soon, and basically all of the infantry that I have that I want to take, one way or the other. I’m now working on my raiders/ravagers over the next month to get them finished before I launch into working on the Venoms next month. I expect pictures of the venoms to drop any day now I hope.

At any rate, I was thining of grey knights and the 40-50 strike squad list that I think would just hammer me and was trying to come up with something that I would use to fight it. In the end I decided to try something I had played with mentally, but never pointed up. It has 24 splinter cannons, and throw out 144 shots a turn if necessary. The point is to de-mech your opponent, then pick up him with the splinter cannons. It would wipe tyranids, foot orks, tau off the table in a few turns. I would think it would do well against wolves as well. You attempt to set up outside of LOS, or range (all the vehicles have nightshields) of any long fangs, then jump forward and wipe the long fangs out with splinter cannons. The list should kill about 16 marines a turn from splinter cannon fire (48 total wounds a turn) at 36 inches. It probably will not do well against FNP blood angels. I played it against a friend’s list space wolves (40 grey hunters 3x long fangs, thunder wolf cavalry, 1xlord) on the Wargames Con mission 1, and got all the objectives. I think it would do well against guard as well as even if you set up second the entire army can deep strike (the Duke) and all the wytches have haywifre grenades.
