Years ago Games Workshop had a wonderful little online presence called Black Gobo. It literally was the opposite of White Dwarf. It was free and useful. It showed you how to build things, paint things and was generally a wonderful little e-zine. It put the current “what’s new” to shame. Anyway, years ago they had plans for a Necron Monolith that I loved. I loved it so much I used the plans to build a ton of them for a table. I found that it worked great as a center piece but poorly as a table full of them. You can’t get your models on them, or walk on them at all, but they do block LOS, but not enough now to hide much besides a land speeder. I’m working on a campaign for the necrons to play through over the next month, and wanted a necron piece for my table, so I build one again. It ended up a little screwed up, but it’s pretty good, and I just used what I remembered from these plans, and not the plans themselves.

Sadly, Black Gobo is dead, but I managed to find the archived plans for those that are interested in making a great center piece for their boards for the coming of the Necrons!
