Today we look at Blood of Kittens picks for best 40k models of the year. The year got off to a bang with the second waves Orks then we entered the dog days till the IG codex showed up. Here the best of what GW had to offer for are little grubby hands.

Stormboyz clearly show GW new focus on giving us bitz, bitz and more bitz. We also got a look at the new dynamic poses GW was starting to offer. When I busted open these guys I was amazed on just how many different looking boyz I was able to make. Also seeing the improvement from the old metal Stormboyz made bad 3rd ed Ork memories go away.

With everything turning plastic it was great to see amazing metal work in the year 2009. Vulkan the must have marine of the year. From the angle of the spear to the dragon banner everything said come get some. This model was also filled with hidden delights, like the weapon attached to the hand and the dragon scale details throughout. It also did not hurt that Vulkan battle field prowess was seen in tournament armies all year-long.

XV9 made its statement just when rumors were flying about Forge World license agreements with GW. Forge World proved again that it was pushing molding to the far reaches of the Galactic East with impressive battlesuits. From the joints to the weapon, the XV9 was an Anime Mecha wet dream come to fruition. I can hardly wait to see what Forge World pulls out next year and what GW will steal next year.

Space Hulk is where we saw the future and boy did it make us all drool. GW put the industry on notice with the release of the figures found in this box. While GW might be getting older, it still proved that they have the talent and the will to produce models that demanded attention worthy of  their wargaming dominance.

If we are to judge the advance orders for Tyranids I bet we all cannot wait to see how the  Blood Angels, Dark Eldar, and Necrons are going to look.
