Silar over at The Fallen Princes is running another Badab-themed competition, this time based on the Deathwatch.  At one point I was seriously contemplating a Deathwatch army that would have allowed me to play any Astartes codex simply by changing out the commander with the appropriate heraldry, so the chance to actually do a Deathwatch model really appealed to me.  Since I'm on the Badab veterans list for my Salamanders, I thought it would only be fitting that I make my model a Salamander.  That, and I've got these awesome Forge World shoulder pads.

Here's the model, ready to be primed:

This is the first time I've ever repositioned the legs of a marine, and it wasn't all that hard.  Of course, all I did was a simple turn of the left leg, nothing major.

And of course, once I had him primed, I rushed right over to the painting table and swept all of those horrid pointy-eared xenos away so that I could get right down to it:

He's not done, obviously.  I need to finish up the base and add a few details here and there.  The competition itself is even cooler than normal, because after it's judged, some of the entrants (including myself) will be pooling their miniatures into a Sternguard Kill-Team which will be auctioned off for charity.    I will be sad to see this guy go!
