I was asked to paint up a few figures, from the Warmachine range. As it turned out, they will be used as a representation of characters in a starting RPG game.

Now I don't know much about Warmachine or it's brother game Hordes, or the world it plays in. The only thing I can talk about is the figures. Now I never was into anything steam punk (unless it has gas-masks or ninjas, or ninjas in gas masks). The figures are well detailed, and there really isn't much difference, when painting them.

this guy had the last minute change of going brown from blond

I was given character portraits, that I had to use as the base. Also a weathered warjack, probably my favorite from the bunch.

As far as I know, they will be using the Iron Kingdom rules as a base, and use some other things from different settings as well, like a big steam and magic powered flying ships, to travel around planets and star forts and the likes.

I left the bases black. After a little thinking about how they should be done, I came to the conclusion, that no matter what kind of base I do, It can take the figure out of the action. Fighting on a desert planet with city bases? While it can achieve an overall feel on an army, I think for RPG figures it can take you out of the action. That or I was asked to leave them black.
