Hey all,

Trying to sleep tonight (it's 2316 GMT+10 currently) and I had a realisation that I don't need, or particularly want any more miniatures besides what I have and the last few things arriving by post soon. There's enough to keep me going for years, possibly even a decade given my painting motivation waxes and wanes. I'm done collecting. It's done. It's over. No more miniature purchases unless it's absolutely necessary and even then I don't want to give myself that excuse- how is 'necessary' defined? Is it picking up that last box to round out a force? Is it purely for painting enjoyment?

So I closed my ebay account about 10mins ago and I got a nice, powerful and above all free sensation in doing so. Just knowing that impulse purchases are gonna be hard to do in the future and that I won't need to worry about unnecessary miniatures clogging up space. I tried quitting collecting once, but this time is fer reals.

Painting, then modelling, then gaming is the battle plan now. Sure, once a plastic orc onna wyvern appears, I may get one, same with a few Eldar things but I might not as well. Yes this attitude leaves great big holes in a few forces, but I don't care. I'm tired of selling off stuff then finding a super bargain, re-accumulating a portion then shedding the weight again. Best to avoid the whole thing altogether. Having said that, I can appreciate all the systems out there for what they are and what they show but I'm just on the footpath, admiring the garden so to speak.

I suppose this'll see posts from here on out branch into video games, board games and more on painting/terrain than anything. I dunno, but I feel free from any miniature arms race.
