Note - I've been given access to this Imperial Starter Set as advance payment for my services at Salute 2014 and subsequently it's not quite as complete as my normal ones...

----------

With six (now seven) awesome factions that each has their own unique character it's difficult to decide which Mutant Chronicles Warzone Resurrection force is the one for you.

I'm therefore going to do an unboxing (technically an 'unbagging' until they get packaging) on each of those aforementioned factions in order to enable you to come to a (relatively) informed decision. We'll have to wait a bit to look at the stat, strategy, tactical and gear cards as I won't get them until Salute 2104. If there should be any minor assembly issues encountered along the way then we'll cover those as well...

I'm sure you've all seen pictures of things in a bag so we'll skip that bit...

The Imperial 'Starter Set' contains enough parts to make two Trencher Officers, ten Imperial Trenchers and a Greyhound LAFV Support unit. Up until this one every Starter set gave you a legal army of one Warlord and two units of five 'troops' as well as additionally giving you some kind of Support unit or Light Vehicle as well. The Imperial Starter Set contains two Officer models instead. Apparently some of the Starter Sets will be offered in a new alternate configuration with more generic leader models instead...more news on that when I have it...

Normally at this point we'll show you what you get in 'army list' form as well as the minimum and maximum potential unit values that you can make from your starter set but as I don't have a rulebook or cards yet you'll have to wait for that I'm afraid.

Onto the actual bits and pieces then...

Unassembled.
We'll look at both sides of the parts 'as they come' without any clean-up in order to give you a complete picture of what you get and what work they need.

Trencher Officers.

Imperial Trenchers.
You get two lots of the pictured parts...

Greyhound LAFV.

We also get a number of resource cards which vary in appearance from faction to faction but as we don't have any yet we'll jump straight to the assembled models.

The models come with appropriate bases but unfortunately they have slots in them but this can be easily rectified. Personally I fill them with hobby store matchsticks then base over them though there's any number of other methods. I haven't based these yet.....

Trencher Officers.
These newer models have much better joints than the older ones making attaching arms into the correct location and at the correct angle much easier. Not that there was anything particularly wrong with the older ones...these are just better...

Some Painted Ones...

Imperial Trenchers.
Each of the five bodies are different giving a good variety to the unit. Each of the two sets in the starter I received had exactly the right amount of gun arms, one of which is some form of mini-gun called a 'Charger HMG'. The aforementioned HMG is an upgrade though with the starter set there are only five weapons (one per model) so you'll have to upgrade one anyway...perhaps that weapon is so good they know you'll always take one, lol.

The Charger HMG ammo feed flexes fairly easily so you'll want to be careful with that bit.

Some Painted Ones...

Greyhound LAFV.
The 'Driver' and gun are on a circular mount and can be pointed in pretty much any direction other than backwards. I probably won't glue mine in at all so I can point it in the appropriate direction during games, lol.

A Painted One...

A Group Shot.
