Our group of mates that play 40k don't get a whole lot of games in. We're still fairly new to the hobby and most of us are dedicated PC gamers as well which leaves less time for 40k, not to mention it's hard to play games when you don't have an army built (I'm guilty of this). We have, however, had an unusually long dry spell and we decided that we don't need to find time for games to enjoy the hobby. So we came up with a 'Create a Cool Champion Challenge'. Each of us build and paint a Sergeant or equivalent model to a higher than tabletop standard with the month of April to do it.

To set the challenge in concrete (pun intended) I whipped up a little player board of those of us who are participating. Faction icons from Warhammer 40k Wiki. Concrete texture from a deviantART user I found via google.

I've started on my model already. I've decided to do an Angels of Redemption Veteran Sergeant. I'm really looking forward to this challenge and I think we will all produce some really cool stuff. I'll post the results at the end of the month and if I remember to take WIP shots of my Sergeant I'll chuck those up here too.

Stay tuned for more.
