In one of my previous posts I've shown how pictures taken by a friend om mine really brings out the best in my models. I have shown there (amongst others) two of my entries for the Lage Landen competition, namely Saint Celestine and the Stegadon (Engine of the Gods). Since the preliminaries are done last weekend (and the finals will be next weekend), I feel I can also share my other two entries.

First off, there's Sigvald the Fancypants - or what is he called. Actually, I was not really fond of this model, but I felt it to be a challenge to do something other than the usual seen-everywhere-and-copied-from-the-White-Dwarf Non-Metallic Gold. So I did purple. Or pink-ish. Or whatever. It's a Slaanesh color, god dammit!

However, after this pic was taken, I decided to re-do the shield. it didn't work out for me, and so I simplified it (see right).  That suited much better, even though this was hardly a challenge.

Next up is my loving baby Duel. This is probably the one entry that I have riding a lot on. Initially, I wanted to do this  ppiece for the Golden Daemon UK last year, but halfway done I felt it wouldn't do. So I tucked it away for a later day. When the Lage Landen Competition came by, I took another look, made some changes, and finished it. And now I love it! Sure, there is still room for improvement, but these pics really bring the piece to life.

So, all we can do is wait until next Saturday, and see how things go during the finals in Amsterdam. About the LLPC: I am glad to see that a lot of great painters have decided to enter this year as well, and I have seen previews of some incredible pieces that I am anxious to see. In the meantime, I have already made some new friends (MaGie and Gerrie Schenk to name two of them) so I think I can look at some great painting days (with much learning) ahead :)
