With 6th edition around the bend it is a fantastic time for speculation on where the game of 40k will go. Most I think are taking this all in stride , but some are very up in arms about the "possible" changes that are rumored. I think the casual gamer will be effected less than most as they just like 40k, the entire 40k ( modeling, lists, paint, chit chat to friends about stuff). I don't game as much as I'd like and I lose more than I win, but being with friends, learning the tactics of the game, and exploring the fluff are what matters to me.

Now as I have set the stage lets get to the meat of this. Allies. Really GW?? So a allies chart is going around the interwebs are saying this army can join with this one or that one. A really novel idea if it is a large scale thing. Combinations galore and the increased popularity of the team tournaments show that there is a interest for such a dynamic. The one large glaring problem is Tyranids. The have received a big fat ZERO allies. It is true that they would just eat whoever tried to join their team, but with a a made up world GW couldn't come up with a reason? Maybe chaos enslaved ( spellbound ) nids, or Imperial nano control of a fractured hive fleet. Necrons want to get back to having a organic body and baring space Marines the perfect organisms are tyranids ( even more than Marines ). So again my favorite aliens are left to fringes of the game. I'm still holding out for 6th to give them a boost some way, but those hopes decline on a daily basis. I do know that if the allies rumors hold true the nids will disappear from any gaming circuit. ( FYI not one nid player in the GT at adepticon, ZERO)

If it all is true most tyranids will share this fate ( getting boxed up and put into storage ).
