All righty so the first squad I am really going to dig in on for my 6th edition paintathon are the scouts. I have converted up 5 Space Marine scouts from space wolf bits, the scout sniper box, scout box and a few press molds. My goal for this army is "no face is the same". I want to create a very unique and personalized army, it would be nice if it was competitive but first and foremost I want it to be eye catching.

One of the best ways to do this is to vary all of the models just a bit. GW makes this easy, but taking that a step further I try to think of the squad in terms of the world and the fluff. Rare is it in our world for a sniper team to take up a mission without some fully automatic back up. You can see this in the squad make up. There are 3 snipers, two scouts with bolters, the sergeant is packing a sniper rifle, but has drawn a pistol and a blade.  There is a coherency in the group, they look like they should all be part of the same team but their are enough subtle variances to differentiate one from another in more than just pose.

We have two of the same face in this group. One is hidden behind a rifle scope and the other is on the move carrying a bolter.  That was done purposely to hide their similarities, and when painting a little added facial hair will seal the deal that they are different soldiers.

These guys have been primed grey and blasted with some skull white from an airbrush to help guide future highlights.  I still have to figure out the camo schemes on the camo cloaks but I think that research is for a future post.

Happy 4th!
