With the advent of 6th edition, a frenzy of list building, and OMGing on the interwebs it is clear. 5th Edition top tier codexs are most afraid of bottom tier codexs now and anything that got a slight boost in rules. More Space wolves are freaking out now about Deamons than Republicans hating health care. IG players are worried 2k games with Nids will somehow make it unfair for them and their little tanks. I can't hear anything from GK except how broken Necrons are now, but I'm sure they are haten on something else. Most of this stuff is sooo untrue it is laughable, just the players minds playing the " what if " game and beating themselves with a list they to be honest do not understand. Necrons being the exception, but they are not broken( very good though ).

On another front Tyranids in 6th edition I felt were given another GW beating and put back in the corner. No allies, No Manuel firing defense guns( big deal vs flyers), worse cover saves. The no allies bothers me the most. It isn't the part where I can't field army X with nidz , it is the point that all other armies add in FOC slots. The part that really worries me is that GT's will run the 1999 (+1) lists to prevent double FOC's, but still allow the allies to break the standard FOC as seen fit. I understand this move as a double FOC is like a apoc game without "D Weapons" and would make some crazy funny games, but is that what we want? Fun games. If it is 2k and double FOC, everyone can do that. You are also limited to 2k points. Will people abuse it? yep, will it break the game? no. Why? because we all would do it. So you IG spams 6 manticores, I counting on it. So I'm going to bring my counter ( railguns, MC's, Flyers, Oblits). Back to tyranids though. large blobs got super good due to no fearless wounds. Like AWESOME GOOD. Try dealing with 90 devilgaunts. That's 270 shots!!! Than add in Tervigons, Tyrants, Trygons, etc and now it's a game. It would take a dreadnought 6 rounds to cut through 1 squad and besides being stuck I can't bet a smash attack from a trygon is going to rain down in a turn or 2. Tyranids get a buff also with the ruling on hoods and the facts we can "shadow in the warp and deny the witch on a +5 due to our numerous psykers. All in all we got punched in the face but also found 50 dollars on the way to the doctors so I think it evens out to a extent.

One other thing, and this is for TO's, please look into amending the rule on Tyranids and Allies, but just with allying Tyranids. Especially if you are going to do the 1999 points to avoid double FOC's. This will allow them the same FOC's slots as EVERY OTHER ARMY. Don't say you want to be fair and follow rules, and than change something cause it isn't fair @ a tourney. And rest assured that Tyranids will not be spots 1-3 winning your GT due to this change, that is just to boogie man putting ideas in your tiny little head :)
