This last weekend I had the chance to go to ( thanks James ) the Game Vault in Fredericksburg,VA for a RRT ala the Feast of Blades (22 person). The top 3 spots got a nice bit of coin to spend at the store and a ticket to the Feast of Blades invitational tourney. Overall I placed 6th with Daemons, and coinsidering the competition I was pretty happy with that( was 2Wins, 1 minor Loss). My friend playing orks placed 4th, but would have won (IMHO) 1st place if it had went to 5 or more turns. Some other friends managed 3rd and 2nd place spots. The NOVA area was very well represented in the top tier :)
1st place :GK 93 points
2nd:GK 92.5
3rd:Necrons 91.5
4th:Orks 74.5
5th: Eldar/DE 70
6th: Daemons 62.5
The Terrain was cool looking on some boards, but no where near enough LOS. One table I was on we had nothing. Literally it was a flat board with 1 ruin and some bumps ( yes not even hills ). So for 3 games nothing blocked LOS. example below ( my Daemons VS Tau ) :
On a bit of a surprise I managed a 2nd place in paint score. I was ecstatic. I know I'm not a golden daemon winner, but I try to at least have a good looking army to an extent. I also was in a mad rush to finish the army 2 days before the RTT ( still building models with less than 24 hours til the start ) So next time I will be a WAAC painter LOL.
My counts as Flamers of Tzeentch if I couldn't finish in time LOL ( yes that is a match with a smiley face ):
The one thing I did notice was most people with 6th edition did not finish 5 rounds in the 2hr and 15 minutes time frame. I never got passed round 4 and even than was struggling to get my turn in ( I always went 2nd ). One of my opponents was slow playing a little as he did know the rules, but was constantly "thinking" of what to do next. 40 minutes for your turn is too much good sir!!!! Another thing was the lack of players bringing their armies codex and having a real list with wargear. So the moral of the story is: bring your codex ( both if you ally ) and be mindful of the time.
