Just as out of the ashes of death comes the phoenix of rebirth, so too does out of the ashes of inactivity come the Bryss of rebirth. Buoyed by the fact that the people of Aberdeen find me funny enough to laugh at my jokes (which are a lot less snarky than this persona, mind you), I'm making my return to my desk. Today, I'm going to try thrashing a Huron list theory out.

Before I begin, ground rules. This is going to be a 1750 list as that's my top end. That means I have 1590 points to spend on things that aren't Huron. There is no guarantee that the list will be good, it's just something I think would be fun to play.

The first thing I need to address is what on earth I'm going to do with Huron's Warlord Trait. The easiest way to go about this would be to assign Priority One, Two and Three units. These must be Infantry, as stipulated by the Trait, so I have a choice to make. I can either use it to get a blob closer to the enemy, or give it to specialist or threatening units to make them deploy last/in more effective range. Let's explore blobs first.

After my first game, I've decided that CSM squads don't work as well in a horde as Cultists or Berzerkers do. So either of those are eligible. However, I own but twenty Cultists, which isn't as good as thirty Cultists. I do own twenty Berzerkers, though, which is their max. Disadvantage to them is need for a compulsory second HQ to make them score.

Of course, since nothing is stopping me using this power on Allies (yet), my options expand. The most obvious candidates here are Ork Boyz, Guardsmablobs (I do so love that word) and Necron Warriors. I'm ruling out DE as they're Desperate and not quite efficient enough for what I want, and Tau because Tau don't do this sort of thing at all. Of those two, the Orks and Necrons are easiest to operate, but Guard is still good.

The alternative is threat aid. Being able to place Flakk Havocs last is a godsend if you elect to go first. Same with special weapons Chosen, although they'll die faster and are more expensive. I wouldn't consider Obliterators Priority One as they're tougher.

At this point, I remember that Infiltrate=Outflank, which makes the Chosen idea much more appealing. Shame you can't assault out of it.

From other armies, we have things like Battlesuits, Incubi, Flash Gitz and Lootas. Anything you don't want to risk. Generally, you're going to have at least two Priority Unit Lists depending on whether you're up first or second.

I'm still not entirely sure what I want to do. I'll go away and think about it and get back to you. Signing off...
