Clearly this army was a labor of love for us and the painter in resident, Will Shuck, did it up right. His complete gallery can be seen here. The client in this case was a Tzeentch fanatic and wanted not one but THREE squads of Thousand Sons! This was made equally difficult because at the time of the sale, there was not a Thousand Son to be found! We bought as many Rubric heads as we could get a hold of and had enough left over to do three more squads, which we are selling through our ebay store!
We are always happy when a client allows us to branch out a little bit and stretch our imagination. We treated the army to a few special touches, including the Tomb Kings bits spread out on the Rhinos and the signature Vulture style daemon prince with custom close combat weapons. The red basing was the clients idea and we really enjoyed the contrast of the red basing with the blue, green, and gold core colors.
For the Havocs and Obliterators, the client wanted us to use green as much as possible, but also to incorporate the blue and gold of Tzeentch. Fortunately, blue and green gel very well in terms of color theory, so it was a natural selection process for us.
Hunting down Ahriman was another challenge as Ahriman is currently out of production with GW until later this winter. The client also requested a custom familiar which we fulfilled with a small custom Skate style miniature, reminiscent of a very small screamer of Tzeentch.
Although I thought the daemon prince would be the star of the show, the centerpiece of the army has to be the maulerfiend, which Will spent countless hours perfect to the 11th degree! We did an entire post about this centerpiece
