I opened up White Dwarf last Saturday (don't worry, I'm not re-subscribing. Unless a miracle occurs and they start writing decent battle reports) to find it filled with Hobbit stuffs.
Didn't GW learn anything from Lord of the Rings SBG?
The only explanation I can see is that the original contract took in the Hobbit too, and it was rights to all of it that GW had to buy. And I suppose that by making it themselves GW stop any other miniatures company from stepping onto their turf.
But still, I wanted a decent batrep. And I got Hobbit stuffs. Grrrrrr.
Plus points? I've seen a lot of people suggesting use of the Warg Riders as Thunderwolf replacements in some crazy allied/counts as situation. But most people seem to be ignoring the best thing about the Hobbit.........
Goblin Town!
That goblin town scenery stuff would be awesome for Skaven! Or Undead Ghouly-types, I'm thinking Crypt Horrors and the like. Or actual Goblins. Or just thematic docks, or sewer entrances. I'm now drooling at the possibilities.
But it'll have to wait until after xmas and then I'll only be buying online at -25% or somesuch.
Have you spotted anything else in the Hobbit range that you like the look of?
