Camo nets with leaves, and my first experience with salt weathering.While I'm not posting as frequently as I used to, I have my reasons for it. On of these is because the local "games day" is coming up rapidly (next weekend), and I still have to finish a few things up for the painting competition.
What I have finished and ready for it is my re fitted Leman. Painting fun all around.
I based the tank with the rust color, mixed up from skag brown, and fire dragon bright. Roughly in a 2:1 mixture. After that I covered the areas that I wanted to be rusty with salt, stolen from the dinner table.
Next was the tanks base color, I went with grey and based the tank with Valejjos german grey paint, and mixing in more and more white to make the highlight. A few masking tape tears later I was ready spray on the camo pattern.For the camo I used a Game color Sepia ink base, for a highlight I added Valejjos flat brown to the ink, getting a brownish green color. It was time to remove the salt. and add some more rust where needed with a brush.
I had to apply the stowage after this. The fuel tanks and the ammo box is painted with valejjos camo green and given a nuln oil wash, while the bags are painted with skag brown, and washed with agrax earth shade and nuln oil.
It was time to make the mud. I first applied some sand to the lower parts of the tank, and to the treads, and then spraying over it, starting from brightest to darkest order to make a dried mud look.
The squad marking required some masking tape and a decal from the IG tank boxes, while the kill markings are taken from the infantry squad box.
The finishing touch was the camo netting. I used gauze painted with a 1:1 mix of skag brown and yriel yellow after a little thinking I opted to add in leaves instead of the little pieces of paper, so I painted up some "leaves" (I don't know the name of them... sorry) and added them to the net while it was wet, I then pushed the net into the cracks, and deeper areas, just to make it look better.
Took me some time to finish, but it was fun. Will it win anything, if you ask me I don't know, I hope, but I don't think it will. As a stand alone piece it looks awesome (for me) and maybe someday will get some guys to move with. (PLASTICSTORMTROOPERS!)
