New Year, New Codex, New Models, New Army.

Back in the saddle after a long break, dear readers, this is Jordan with a series of updates and news. For those of you interested in my personal affairs, I'll have an explanation later on in the week.

Stop right there, criminal scum!

I got my hands on a squad of the new Forge World Cataphractii terminators a little while ago and decided that it would be great start to a counts-as Deathwing army.  I'm really not a fan of the Dark Angels, but there's no rule against using their codex for a Space Marine Legion that I actually like.

These happy chaps got finished before the new Dark Angels codex came out, so I built them like a regular Codex: Space Marines terminator squad with an Autocannon (counts as Assault Cannon).  After grabbing my copy of the codex on release day, I perused through and checked out the great options Deathwing terminators have access to.

After coming up with pretty basic 1,500- and 1,000-point lists, I'm still not entirely sure how to go about arming them.  What do you guys think?  I've always liked Assault Cannons, they now cost 5 fewer points than a Cyclone Missile Launcher, and I have a great looking Autocannon to use as a counts-as model!

Is that Twin Linked or are you just happy to see me?

Building a list, I'm trying to stay as mono-wing as possible.  In both of the lists I mentioned above, I have at least one Land Speeder.  I found a nifty pre-Heresy conversion over at Bolter and Chainsword that I do believe I'll be using if I decide that I need it in the list.  The best part is that I have a bunch of Mk.III armor sets sitting on my work table that I can use as crew for the Speeder.

The post about how the models put together will come with the next squad, but as you can see, you can get some pretty dynamic poses out of the kit if you use your imagination and scalding hot water.

DAT ASS

That's about all I've got on my mind for now as far as building a usable Deathwing list is concerned.  I'll post more about the models themselves as the weeks roll on, so be sure to stay tuned.  I'm still working my way up to a 1500-point Imperial Guard list (which I still have yet to even photograph) and I've made a bit of progress on my Fortress of Redemption.  I'm going to try to finish up both of those things before I get too far down the rabbit hole on this one.

Anyway, it's great to be back.  Take care and enjoy your games!

-Jordan.
