I've been running my 1500 points Mech Eldar list for a couple of months now and it always seems to perform well due to a mix of mobility, massed firepower and turrets with 360-degree fire arcs.

Eldar Mechanised Army Strategy

The army is designed to attack, often focussing their Strength 6 guns on specific targets until they've been destroyed.

Meanwhile the 360-degree fire arcs of the Wave Serpent and Vyper turrets allows me to focus additional firepower where it's needed or to wittle down new targets.

So when the army advances to engage the enemy, you have the Dire Avenger, Fire Dragons and War Walkers engaging specific targets.

Then you have the Wave Serpents and the Vypers as the next layer of firepower, which you can use to shoot new targets en masse - or to support the Dire Avengers and Fire Dragons by finishing off whatever they are unable to kill.

The fire arcs of the turrets allow you to protect your infantry should something not go to plan, or to focus on a new threat should you succeed.

So positioning your units is always a careful balancing act between attacking as much as possible and ensuring that what you do attack is wiped out in order to minimise casualties when the enemy attack back in the following players turn.

CONCLUSION

It's not a bad list, but it could be better.

For example, I'm planning to drop defend from the Dire Avenger Exarchs because it's a complete waste of points. They alway seem to get shot or the Exarch gets killed (usually from shooting) before the squad even gets charged. That frees up 30 points and if I drop 4 Dire Avengers (2 from each squad) I'd have enough points for 3 Jetbikes and arm one with a shuriken cannon to grab an Objective.

Meanwhile, if you wanted to scale the army up to 1750 points, I would simply add a Wraithlord with a wraith sword, 2 flamers and a brightlance, as well as 5 x Pathfinders.

This gives the army some much needed anti-tank and a hard hitting countering unit, as well as an infiltrating troop choice that can claim objectives and pick off monstrous creatures and characters.
