What's next in 40K?
With Tau finally being released, the rumors are flying about what the next codexes will be this year. Seems like the consensus is Eldar in June, followed by Space Marines in October. In between we will see a new Apocalypse book.
Eldar players have been whining for years, since their codex is one of the oldest ones around, that need a new one. And so it looks like they are getting their update.
Marines are always updated right after a new edition, and I hope this update will make the Marines a bit more powerful. Sorry, but vanilla marines have been rather bland and under-whelming this edition.
Apocalypse could use an update to make the game a little less of the wild west. Any long time Apocalypse die-hard will tell you that you need a bunch of house rules to make the game fair and balanced.
And there are the plastic Thunderhawk rumors. Now I always said GW would NEVER make a plastic Baneblade. How wrong as I? So it is a possibility, but the image in the White Dwarf doesn't give you any hint. It looks like a Forge World T-Hawk.
Anvil Industries Releases Marine Analog
The Black Ops Fire Team is your basic Tactical Squad. 10 resin miniatures for 35 GBP or $53. You can add any of Anvil's resin bases for 5GBP or $ 8 more.
Black Ops Suppression Teams are basically Devastators. You get 5 for 24.50GBP, roughly $37. So far there are missile launchers and autocannons available.
My problem with this is, why would I use them? There are only two reasons to use resin figures rather than GW plastic Marines.
1) They are cooler looking
2) They are cheaper.
These are nice looking, but not spectacular. And they are MORE expensive than a tactical squad!
None the less, I like Anvil and support them in their efforts.
