Boy, it's been a while since I put knife to plastic, putty to figure or even paint to resin. Overtime at work, work trips, helping my wife prep for an out-of-country mission trip, and other outside forces have conspired against any sort of productive hobby time lately. So how to fix this?
Get back to the basics of working when I have the time to do it.
Now that means I'm writing blog posts and working on models post 9pm at night, but I'm working on them again, and it feels good!
So what's on the desk?
Heresy-Era Salamanders
This is a two-fold project. I'm heading to Games Day again this year and a Salamanders Contemptor Pattern Ironclad Dreadnought will be one of my entries. The rest of the first 1000 points will be my portion of a Team for the Adepticon Team Tournament next year.
Inq28 Inquisitor and Retinue
My second entry into Golden Demon this year will be an eclectic mix of Forge World, event-only figures, kit-bashes and other work to create a questing Inquisitor and his retinue. The gathered figures to be used as the bones of the project so far include a Death Korps Quartermaster, Empire Priest, Arbite and Cybermastif, Imperial Pilot, and a member of the Tau Ground Crew. This will be a fun project!
Tau
I just can't leave well enough alone, can I? My Tau will be heavily converted and customized, and my first task is to make a 10+ year old Crisis Suit model new, and most importantly, mine. Right now, I'm actually taking a large amount of inspiration from both the illustrative artwork of the Tau, that always portrays suits to be so much sleeker than the models, and suit comparative from the codex. You can see the start above, lets see where it develops.
A City Fight Table
I'm constructing a full-blown, modular city fight table's worth of terrain as a commission. This Tale Is constructed in 8"x16" sections for versatility. I'll be detailing out the processes of some key features and seem fun tutorials on how to achieve some of the effects I pull off.
Full-Figure Sculpting
Yup. It reads exactly how I mean it. I took an amazing class by Joe Orteza at Adepticon, and above are the fruits of that class. Maybe not a lot to look at, but its a heck of a start for me.
