From Blood of Kittens:
Warhammer 40k: Inquisition
Inquisition is designed for 2-4 players and each side will use custom cards and dice. Army sizes consist of about 5-10 models per side. A whole new set of models drawn from Blanche artwork will accompany. The game should be flexible as you can make and design your own Inquisitorial retinue. As for rules complexity that is anyone's guess, but the general marketing goal for Inquisition is a gateway game into the greater Warhammer 40k universe.
Beyond that GW, seems to be taking cues from Kickstarter projects like Sedition Wars and home-brewed rules like Inq28 for Inquisitor. This also might not end up as a limited edition run, but that all depends on sales, and if any support is continued will be done through digital expansions and updates.
I have been thinking that the Blanchitsu column of White Dwarf has been quite Inq28 centric especially as GW usually stays well clear of anything that is not official. This really could bring back the hobby centric 40k rather than the list hammer 40k we see so prevalent on the internet.
That is not to say I dislike list building etc; far from it. However, as lists change so quickly with changing meta and new releases it does appear that the old conversion laden armies of old are becoming rarer with more people getting armies off the sprue and onto the battle field before they feel the need to change the list again. A small skirmish size game would inspire people to work on a unique group models and as we know these things always spiral out of control. From GW's stand point this is genius.. the amount of people that will start a Inquisition group then build a few more will immediately have enough models to ally in some Grey Knight Inquisitors to their standard army etc.
The bottom line for me is that if the standard of models in the set is on par with Dark Vengeance I will buy a couple of sets just for the models.. and I really want the actual game lol.
Has this inspired you guys at all? What problems do you see with this (other than if they use finecast lol)?
