Not much is really known about this notorious and century old commander (no one really knows if it's still him or some other suit pilot), but now you can all you want about him, his legendary legacy and his cornucopias amounts of glorious feats with the new Codex Supplement: Farsight Enclaves.
Honestly, I saw this one coming as soon as the Iyanden supplement (I even wrote an article about it) was released and I kept wondering to myself what exactly could if offer that the regular codex neglected to highlight? The 6th edition codex was like a miracle compared to its 4th and 3rd edition books, but this new Supplement is definitely crazy awesome. However, I am a little disappointed that these rules were not Incorporated into the normal codex (at least the Suits to troops option), but at least they are added in instead of being completed ignored.
I'm not sure what book I like better so far, but I will say that it's really exciting that you can use both books in one army. Each one of them has their advantages and disadvantages (Farsight being able to take suits as Troops, having a whole entourage of Commanders. The Empire for having their nice Special wargear list, being cheaper and keeping me from trying to use 18 suits in one army), but if you were to at least combine the two of them into one army (via the allies system) you have a juggernaut of a Tau army that can specialize in CC, massive Suits galore and cheap fodder.
Here's a link to 3 ++ for all of the info including some nice pictures revealing the stats of the Unique Commanders available to add in for Farsight's command team, but besides all of that Farsight seems to be a pretty handy friend to have around. I love the new Special Wargear options (not sure I like to replace the old ones though), having Suits as troops is truly beautiful, having Riptides taking Special Issue wargear is awesome, and having a whole squad of Suits (Broads, Rips and Suits) is a really nice feature.
I know for sure I'm pretty excited about this supplement and I think I might even paint up/model some exclusive Farsight Command team models to celebrate the occasion (emphasis on "think"). I doubt I will ever go straight Farsight, but I know I will be using a lot of him and his Cadre for the Empire and to further the Greater Good of the Tau race.
