The starter sets come with ten Marines, ten Rangers and three heavy weapon teams. Not bad but I wanted Veterans instead of bog standard Marines so canibalized two of my heavy weapon teams to replace two of the Marines from each ten man unit to field them as veteran squads.
When it comes to painting im sticking to a limited pallet of grey and black for the fatigues, white for the armor and bright orange gor visors, goggels etc. I think this colour scheme will look good next to my Bumblebee Enforcers as even when the Enforcers have a separate army list I will still be using the two forces together.
Here are the good and bad points for the Corporation one player battleset...
- 23 beautiful models for under £30 (although some places will sell it for quite a bit less)
- very few mold lines that are easy to remove.
- all the parts are interchangeable making conversions very simple.
- Very easy to assemble most of the models, the only exception is arming models with one of the special ranged weapons as it involves cutting the laser rifle away from the arm.
- lots of options including two choices of heavy weapon, five different types of rifle size guns, pistols and energy gauntlets!
- rules and dice included in the box.
- design and proportions of the models are excellent, Games-Workshop could learn a thing or two from this battleset.
- The heavy weapon tripod sits awkwardly on the base once it has been attached to the gunner (see pic below).
- the free rules in the box are beta rules that will be replaced in the next few months, although Mantic are likely to have the new rules as a free download.
In total I would give the kit 8/10 that could be improved by adding a hero model to command the force and fixing the problem with the tilting heavy weapon tripods.
I will be back soon with some painted examples of my Corporation force.
See ya...
