As some of you know I've been dealing with a back injury that hasn't really let up for over a week now. On Friday I finally got around to adding dirt to, and sealing, some models I'd painted awhile ago. As I picked them up today and gave them a once over, I realized that it seemed like an eternity since I'd done any painting.
Of course that's not to say I've never gone more than a week without painting, because I've suffered from the same burnout as any other painter. But right now I want to paint, but the idea of leaning over without collapsing to the floor in paint seems so unattainable. I'm finally getting out of the brain fog that lasts several days any time I take a hydrocodone, which means I can at least get back to blogging with a bit of intelligence, but I can't wait till I'm back to 100%.
I still have my gaming table to finish. It's so close to being done! I just need to paint up the foam, seal it with a layer of glue, and then get some grass on it. After that I've got a buddy's Mountain King to work on while I wait for my charity piece to arrive in the mail so I can work on it. No more full armies this time around - I'm going to take one model I really like, the Khador Behemoth, and really do him up right. Lester Bursely, one of my favorite painters, did a tutorial on airbrushing inks with the Behemoth as his example. Needless to say I've found my inspiration!
Once that's said and done it's back to my ever-growing pile of work. I have a friend's Mountain King I've been wanting to paint as a "thank you" for letting our group use his house for awhile. I have a few more pieces I want to kidnap from friends to paint up, and after that it's back to commission work and my own pieces.
With our Warmachine league (hopefully) starting up soon I want to take my Skorne force, which has never seen the table, and chronicle my painting and playing with them. I don't know that I have the memory to do battle reports, but I can at least use some dramatic language to talk about my impending string of losses! Of course none of that can start until I finish hammering out the details on our league, so stay tuned for the continuing journey of getting those rules written up.
That's just a peak at my growing to-do list. It's been nice being able to read or play video games while I recover, but I'm really ready to get back to all my projects.
See you tomorrow!
