Building on my post last week about my Astral Claws, I wanted to throw out a few more of the list ideas I'm toying with.I'm currently planning to stick to Iron Hands for my marines, mostly because I don't really like the idea of flopping my chapter tactics around, it feels beardy. We'll see how the lists do in playtesting, but in the meanwhile, I'm sticking to Iron Hands.

Today's list is built around my Lamenters as allies, and is the first of what will be a series of Astartes/Astartes allied lists I'm working on. I have enough bodies lying around to comfortably start a force of Executioners and Mantis Warriors, so I'll be expanding on those (Imperial Fists and White Scars successors respectively) in the near future. This list uses a lot of the same fundamentals as the last one I posted, because I'm going to be building those Techmarines anyway, so I may as well keep using them (plus it fits the chapter tactics). One of the big differences here is that I'm featuring my 2nd Company Captain, Corien Sumatris, although I'm just using a generic captain's statline for him. The model includes the special boltgun that was built for him by Valthex, but of course that loadout isn't possible in the basic book. Instead, I will give him the Shield Eternal and a Power Sword (actually, I'm considering dropping the 2 auspex from the techmarines and using the points to make it a relic blade).

I'll be sticking to the Librarian and 2 Techmarines as the rest of my HQ slot, and 3 minimum sized tactical squads in razorbacks again make up my frontline troops. I again include sniper scouts, intending the librarian to sit back with them and use his abilities as needed from there. I also added a LS Storm with close combat scouts because that unit is one of my favorites. Rounding out the Fast Attack from my Astral Claws are 2 Storm Talons with Skyhammer Missiles. This gives me a decent amount to put into the next portion, the Lamenters.

First and foremost, I've got a bunch of Blood Angels allied contingent ideas. The real problem is that my favorite units are the Storm Raven and the Sanguinary Priest (once again, we come back to me stacking squads with characters lol). Why is this a problem? Well, I freaking love the idea of air cavalry rolling onto the field blasting Wagner like Apocalypse, Now! so of course I want to take a Dreadnought to ride along. Since the Raven is a Heavy choice, the only option is to take either a priest or take a furioso dread. For the purpose of this list, I decided to go with a dread, because I'll have the whole allied detachment deployed together, which to me is fluffy and awesome. The Lamenters send in an assault squad and librarian, along with a Librarian Dreadnought, in a Raven to assist their allies.

The Furioso Dread is a Librarian not due to any particularly fluffy or thoughtful reason, but because its the sole Blood Angels dread I have lying around. And by lying around, I mean I had the force weapon arm and librarian dread face plate, which I was going to build into wreckage originally, which is why I bought the bit in the first place. A few months ago, I was digging through my bits and thought, there's no reason not to try to build a Dreadnought from this. I had a spare pair of dreadnought legs (ebay again, I think), so all I had to build was the upper body and feet. I used a spare arm as the other blood fist. I don't have a picture of it yet but I'll be sure to get one in my next Lamenters post.

This is the Librarian, obviously a modified version of the DV libby

In the end, I don't think this is the strongest list I've ever written, but I'm also not overly concerned with it turning out as a major winner. This is purely a modeling project, so I'm very focused on the things I want to get painted. One other idea I have for another way to run it is a Jump Pack Chaplain and Priest in a squad of Death Company with jump packs. I'd take 4 of them and the 2 IC's, and then slap a Death Company Dred on the back of the Raven. Unfortunately, I don't yet have a Death Company Dread, but I'm definitely considering getting a box and a dread body on ebay so that I can use all the bits to build a 2nd furioso as well. I'll close with a picture of my Lamenters Deathwatch marine, I'm planning to build DW marines from all of my chapters, Astral Claws, Executioners, Mantis Warriors, and Angels of Vengeance. I'm definitely hoping GW does a 28 MM scale inquisition themed game, as I'll have a squad of Adeptus Arbites, a squad of deathwatch marines, an inquisitor, and hopefully soon some thralls/skitarii.
