Good evening, morning, day or afternoon- depending on your timezone relative to GMT +10

Holidays are nearly here for me, there's just two hurdles left to go (theory exams, hell yeah! :D) and I've already lined up several things to do many of which have been on the back-burner for who knows how long. Thirteen, maybe fourteen weeks at least for some of them? Anyway, I digress.

Among the many things to do, there is one task that will definitely take a while but will be worth it. That task is to sell off a portion of my GW collection  and put the fund gained from it towards home gym apparatus (because using the word 'equipment' is for people who don't know what EDTA stands for :P) or an airbrush, or manga or other games or...something. Over the years, I've amassed a fair amount and won't ever be able to paint/play with it all so the time has come (or is coming. Soon.) to dispatch a portion of my armies to assist and reinforce another person's army.

Surprisingly, spinning a sell-off/downsize like that for me actually makes me want to go through with it even more (I wonder how my old "insert army here" is going...I hope they're kicking arse). In the case of my orcs, it's like the warboss is telling them gits ta shove off, ya not wanted 'ere no more

So far the armies I'm going to attempt to get rid of include:

  • Beastmen- These are going down to what size they were meant to be, a mordheim warband.
  • Space marines- well, Space Wolves really.
  • A large portion (roughly ~40-45%) of my orcs and goblins army
  • A medium portion (~30%) of my Eldar army
  • 8 BFG cobra destroyers- I don't even remember getting these O.o
Therein lies a conundrum: I still have a large-ish collection after getting rid of them (I've been collection for years, some life right?) and an almost heretical thought crossed my mind earlier this evening:

Do I sell off an army that I have an attachment to (ie: my dwarfs)?

I ask this question to myself as they were literally my first GW army, way back in '06. I remember the day- 31/12/06. I sulked a bit as I didn't want dwarfs but high elves. However, given the crazy GW price shenanigans and the fact I've said adieu to GW (second hand via ebay to get 6th ed fantasy or 3rd 40k doesn't count- they were years ago and much, much, much cheaper. That's my bending of the rule and in my defence, I don't do that too much)

Do I stick with an army that I have an emotional attachment to, even though I'm not going to update them come March next year nor have used them at all this year? Do I sell them off and put that money to better use? Will the Warlock save the princess who damn well better not be in another castle?

To the people who give me pageviews (I'm guessing you guys/gals/xenos/spambots actually read this) I would appreciate your input (with 3rd party cookies enabled. Don't know why it needs them, sorry 'bout that ^^;).

Until the next time,

The Warlock
