Having picked up the v1.1 rulebook for Dropzone Cmdr, I immediately fell in love with both the PHR (post-human republic, you guessed it- cyborgs) and shaltari (funky looking aliens from SPAAAAAACE) and set about finding an army for them. As fate would have it, there was a medium dropship and two ares-class walkers (think light walkers, AT-ST style) for the PHR going dirt cheap on ebay.

I love it when people start a faction then change their minds :) the seller also asked if I wanted two Odin-class walkers (heavy-ish walkers, think small imperial titan) and a heavy dropship that they also bought- my answer was hellz yeah! That and a PHR starter box later (cannot wait until it gets here :D) I think I've found my wargame, Huzzah! Also, who doesn't want Odin-class walkers when Thor 2 hit cinemas in the last week or so. Not usually one for naming my mini's, but I'm designating the Odin walkers when they get here Gungnir and Balmung. Just cuz.

The Emperor has nothing on this guy's throne

Over on the HoP, my usual for want of a better term, 'virtual-pub' Lauby and Dethtron are doing a review of the box set complete with UCM (Normal humans) and Scourge (Parasitic rabies-esque aliens ala War of the Worlds and Independence day).

And that's how Sinsynn came to Earth. Seriously google, where was the image I wanted?
Check if out and buy it if you want UCM or scourge, it's literally a starter army + extra transport, free terrain and rules.

The best part about DZC is that on the website there's free downloadable terrain including roads, buildings and aircons if you want extra detail. In the future I'll try out paper-terrain and build me a DZC gameboard MacGyver style (Paper, foamboard, glue, sheer grit and determination). The worst part about DZC? The fact that it's a relatively new wargame- try googling "Dropzone commander PHR colour schemes". Almost everything is the cream colour that Hawk Wargames uses for their PHR. Fortunately, I stumbled upon this blog, inactive since Sept'12, but I like the colour scheme for his PHR, so I'm going to adapt that for my own ends (PHR are a slow army and as we all know, red wuns go fasta orky style). It's great that I found it as I'm horribly indecisive regarding colour schemes.

All I need is an opponent or two, so if by sheer cosmic chance anyone around Brissie, QLD, Australia, Earth, Solar System, Milky Way East, The Universe is reading this, shoot me a comment and get a game going
