Saturday was Games & Stuff's 300pt Infinity Spec Ops tournament.  The event was my first real tournament outside of the beginner event at Titan.  The players were good and the event was run smoothly and without issues.  I want to thank John for running a great event and G&S for hosting it.

This went the same way as my first 40k tournament.  A hard lesson in humility but a fin lesson at that.  My list is as follows:

Game 1 vs Nomads Bakunin (Steve) - Quadrant Control.

I won the WIP roll and choose side.  He gave me first turn.  I picked the side with more cover and better firing lanes for my TAG.  My Aragoto waspciked off by a Hellcat during its Impetuous and I spent an order to prevent Asuka from ding as well.  The game was lopsided after the first round.  He wasted 5+ orders on taking out the TAG but then basically kept me alive enough to prevent me from retreating.  The Domaru did a great job as did the Ninja but that was about it.  Loss 10-0

Game 2 vs Nomads Bakunin (Ryan) - Annihilation

I won sides and was given first turn.  I did well in the first turn taking out a guy and having the TAG absorb a lot of shots.  I managed to get my bonus objective first turn when the TAG got disabled but poor die rolls and not knowing the exact rules on counter hacking made the rest of the game go down hill fast.  He disabled the TAG after killing my engineer and I didn't realize I could counter hack from anywhere on the board.  He pushed forward and just ate up my little troops.  Loss 7-2

Game 3 vs Yu Jing (Can't remember my opponent) - Frontline

The tag earned his points but went down at the end of the opponent's first turn.  The Ninja managed to score the secondary objecting by hacking a Wu Ming and then died because the Wu Ming made all of his armor saves.  The orders I spent on the Wu Ming meant my Aragoto was left to die out in the open.  Loss 10 - 2

I placed dead last.  Wasn't even close.  What does the loser get?  His money back.  To make the loss sting a hell of a lot less, I won the painted army raffle and got an additional $20 bucks.  Wilson from BWG got in the tie for third and got a figure.  He wasn't really pleased with his prize when he saw my loot.

I learned a lot and had a blast.  I plan to play in the Escalation league at Dropzone that is starting soon.  I also plan on writing what I learned in more detail later this week.
