I spent a lot of money today. *

In reality, maybe not a massive amount, but it got me thinking about the oh-so-pretty new Imperial Knights.

I am trying hard to justify buying one of those beauties for either my growing Plague Marine force, my planned and then abandoned (for now!) good guy marine force, or my ork army.

That's how I handle purchases these days: I try to justify them somehow in my head.  Lately I've been considering an iPad.  I am not destitute, but I am not rich, either (kids do that to you), so a purchase of that size is worth some reflection.  I've been thinking about the ways I would use that iPad.  Most importantly, I've been thinking about what I could do with that iPad that I can't do now just as effectively with the resources at my disposal already.

Frankly, I don't have an answer that really, really changes that iPad into anything other than a toy.  (A toy I could take to work and get fewer sideways glances than I'd receive while schlepping around a Deff Dredd, to be certain.)

Which brings me back to the Knight.  Our hobby is a balance of need and want (it's all a want, sure, but let's pretend we need hobby games, for a little while) and while I want an Imperial Knight, none of my immediate gaming or hobby plans require it.

So I guess I'll be a big boy and wait.  For now.

* today I bought some books for my kids, gifts for my dissertation committee, and these third-hand Plague Bearers that will eventually be joining my Plague Marine force.  They were a price too nice to avoid.
