A General cant just play one game, win, and call themselves Great. They should not just play one game, loose, and call the list they used trash. They should follow a path, a linked series of games. For at least 20 games, they should develop a core army and play with that army until they are blue in the face. Till they give it a true chance and actually get a real feel for the army itself.
Game 11 - vs Eldar Corsair and his Eldar.
This game was quite a learning experience. Raf (Eldar Corsair) has been playing eldar for a very, very long time. He mostly plays and does batreps for his own youtube channel so this was a blast. A key things from this game:
- He forced me to go first.
- He negated my alpha strike.
- Warp spiders… ouch.
- Wave serpents… ouch.
My list would have done a lot better I feel if I would have been able to kill at least one of the serpents, also if Vect would have not died on the first failed shadowfield save… But the biggest thing I learned was NO SPLITTING UP. The large LOS blocker in the middle really hampered my movement and I should have overloaded one flank, negating one of the units of warp spiders. Not a mistake I will do again. And after being pretty much tabled in 4 turns… I cant wait for a rematch!
So, with that, on to Game 12. I chose to make a few tweaks to the list. So I chose to
take out the warwalkers, and to drop the jetseer, to shuffle the trueborn arround and add some more troops and a waveserpent of my own. This would add resilience to my army but also more bodies… I guess I took something more from the spanking of game 11.
Game 12 - vs Evan and his ESCALATION Imperial Guard:
This game was an absolute blast! I took what I learned from Game 11 and put it to the test. I pressed hard on one flank. I targeted the squishy troops with the wave serpent… and was able to then overwhelm the enemy even tho he had 3 fliers in the army I was able to do enough damage to the enemy before they could turn the tide of battle! The Baneblade went KABOOM and killed Vect tho… after he had taken the last hullpoint with a haywire grenade. So what was a fun cinematic moment.
Things that I took from this game:
- Love Escalation
- Liked the Serpent and the guardians on foot. So much so, that I have now modified the list even further! (this is not something that I do very often when it comes to a 20 game journey…)
This brings us to the Infamous GAME 13… Craig came over and we had a game.
Game 13 - vs Craig and his Pure Deamons of Chaos army:
This game was bound to be a blast as well. We upped the anty and player a whoppin 1750pts! (I had recently read Frankies tactica on Dark Eldar from Frontline Gaming) I therefore made a few changes to the army list.

So. This game I got to use a LARGE blob of Eldar Guardians with 2 Bright Lances and a Shard Jetseer (makes them fearless). This game went basically perfect for me in every way. I got perfect timing, doom and guide on the seer… so Craigs nurgle deamons just melted before the blade storming re rolling misses and (sometimes wounds) and ignoring cover shots of the battle focussing army of doom.
I loved it. So this is something that I will be making a mainstay to the army or at least try to! it was a lot of fun.
Ok. So this is the over the hill time. Time to get the painting done for the list (thats also part of the journey)
Thanks for tuning in!
Skari - out.
