So after much pestering from the man who wields the mighty Paint Hammer, here's the latest installment of my very occasional blog here.

I'll say it loud and say it proud, deep down, in my guts, I'm a Dwarf player. When I got back into the hobby a couple of years ago it was my old Marauder Dwarfs that I dug out of the cupboard and repainted. Then I followed a path well trod as I discovered Warhammer podcasts and, to my astonishment and delight, the existence of tournaments. I'm a fairly competitive fella so this suited me right down to  the ground. The Dwarfs graced three tournaments in 2012-13 and did pretty well but ultimately I decided I wanted more from my in-game experience - and for opponents not to hate me - and for the last year or so I've been pushing around the Dark Elves with mixed but enjoyable results.

But with the new book (7/10) dropping and bringing with it a surge of new models (8.5/10), if not the range of models I wanted to see, I decided to start applying the paintbrush back to the Dwarfs.

After a busy few weeks I've finally found time to build some of the new models. I know they're expensive but they're great kits (much like the Dark Elves) and if you've ever tried the Sisyphean task of building Avatars of War Pathfinders, then, like me, you'll appreciate them all the more.

My Dwarfs up to this point have been using a purple and blue colour scheme of their clan and when I picked up my first Longbeard I wasn't sure quite how to incorporate that so I decided to stress test it by going full tilt with the colours.

I'm really happy with the painting standard I've achieved with it, but I'm not 100% sure about the colour scheme as he's perhaps a bit bright for my tastes and may bring more metals into the equation with the next old grumbler.

Anyway, have a look for yourselves and it'd be great to hear what you think.

Thanks for reading.
