Hey all,

I'm breaking this 'hiatus' a lot recently because I actually miss blogging D: and just writing random stuff (also, I miss the people when they occasionally drop by and leave comments- I love seeing comments appear more than increasing pageviews). Don't worry, I've got a buncha articles getting stockpiled and waiting til I find a place to move into, set up and get painting.

Moving onto recent news...in my last post I mentioned an exam...and I'm pretty sure I flunked it >.<
In my defence, lotsa life stuff going on, part time work and not actually covering much in the way of parasitology and mycology before. That's my story and I'm sticking with it :P

Take home message: Never trust fungi, the sneaky little f***ers...

Anyhow...

Looks like the Astra Millipede are getting the Armoured Fist squad back -SQQQUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *inhales* EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

The squad with the tank, scoring and packs mobility+gunz

For those of you who came to 40k in 4th onwards (or knew about it since 4th onwards) an armoured fist squad which was in the 3.5 edition codex) is essentially one squad of guard-dudes (inc weapon upgrades) with a must-take chimera transport as one count'em one troops choice- it's really the mechanized guard players wet dream come true (lol puns for the pun god). The armoured fist squad is synonymous with the Steel Legion guardsmen, who like tanks. A lot.
Steel Legion- Mechanised before it was cool

Okay, so 10 guardmen won't do much by themselves, but hey they've got a chimera with a multilaser/heavy bolter/ heavy flamer and a hull mounted heavy bolter/flamer so they can secure objectives easily :D also, the movement of the tank itself is perfect for linebreaker and securing/contesting those last minute objectives. HEY LOOK I'M WRITING A TACTICA :D I'M A TACTICAL GE-

-EEEEEEEDDD!!!!! (Sorry, could not resist. Heh) In all seriousness though, this is
a) my first tactica article, which incidentally started off as an 'I miss blogging' post

b) Is 90% of what EVERYONE ELSE will be talking tactics for in a week or two (You heard it first here, folks)

c) Buy some metal guardsmen before they're gone. The Tallarn and now Mordian squads have gone so I fear for the Valahallans :(

Above is what the Armoured fist squad entry looked like back in 3.5 (missing the TROOPS heading but eh) It works like pathfinders used to work with a devilfish only these guys can secure stuff. Hurrah! A use for the humble Guardsmook.

Lastly, while on the topic of 3.5 and guard...below is the sentinel variations before the new sprue came out. The fluff had them as different 'patterns' which sadly isn't touched upon much nowadays. Sure, forgeworld mentions Ryza patterns and so on, but when has GW main referred to Imperial vehicles in their various patterns? :(

I don't want to take 'An armoured sentinel squad with autocannons'. No, I want to take a squad of Cadian-pattern sentinels.

Anyhow, until I move out/get settled in I won't be painting for a while but I hope you enjoyed the tactica (which totally manifested out of the blue) and the 3.5 nostalgia fix.

Until we meet again,

The Warlock

Oh and one last thing: I don't own these pics, GW does. They own all rights, copyrights, etc etc used without permission I doubt they give a crap. Still, I OWN NOTHING EXCEPT A COPY OF THE 3.5 Guard book and I love referring back to it
