Hello there fellow readers out there in Dark Future Gaming land, Drkmorals here spraying some guest post graffiti all over the DFG homepage. With 7th edition the talk of the town, and HH models falling from the sky for us to drool over, all while we convince significant others we can't live without that new Mortarion, there are so many subjects I could touch on for my first Article out the gate. However as the inspiration starts flowing and I get excited about the entire Hobby our GW overlords are throwing in our direction I want to bring up Hobby ADD.

Droool........

Hello My name is Drkmorals
and I am a addict...

WHOA WHOA not that type of addict, but maybe the plastic crack is just as bad as the real stuff on our wallets?

I know more than a few of you know exactly what I am talking about. That we share a bond in this area that we most likely try not to admit to ourselves or our significant other when they ask... We just change the subject and explain how those boxes are future projects, not distractions, or impulse purchases. Tzeentch has a grand scheme and these are components/pawns in the plan. Add some evil laughter to really sell your point. (I encourage you to randomly add some evil laughter to any convo it really sets the mood)

Yes while I am not as deep in this hobby as so many of my fellow gamer's. Mainly because I just haven't been playing as long, and I walked away at one point selling everything. (Something I am told is a mortal sin and a mistake you always regret.) I too have a surplus of distractions and evil creations on the back burner. Is that just an accepted part of this hobby perhaps?

I am a competitive player by nature, I love to play the game at events and see where I stacked up after the dust settles among my fellow Warmongers. I don't always bring spammed out, points efficient, calculated, re-rollable 2++ saves per say, but I have been told my lists are always mean and to the point. In the future there is always war and I enjoy the back and forth strategy against a fellow general as we try to steal Victory from our enemies clutches... The problem is I also have started enjoying the hobby side more and more the longer I march plastic men forward making pew sounds. There is also the epic fluffy back story of our tiny forces that can be just as interesting.

Awesome Knight via my Homie Eye of Error. I want to paint one so bad..

What is my point? How do we deal with too much cool stuff?

The new rules again offer a much needed meta shift and the ability to field units and army types we couldn't in the past at least not in a competitive sense.. I know that I can easily dust off my GK's and get ready to throw some power dice giving them some much needed play time.. Which means... there are GK units that I can work on to field on the table.. Wait though, there are Demon units I would like to finish as well.... OH did I mention the terrain project idea's I have, or how about the conversion idea's I have? I also just picked up a slew of IG tanks that will be awesome to paint. There is that Knight model that would look great with my INQ forces as well.. I haven't even touched on Warmachine, or models that I would just like to paint for show pieces that have nothing to do with this game or any other...

I generally try to focus the majority of my attention on things I want to field in events, and Display boards to go with them.. Taking a slight break to paint something fun in between every few units..Its the only way I know not to get over whelmed with all the stuff.

However I ask you readers how do you choose what project to work on next? With 7th edition what has jumped to the painting table if anything... More importantly how do my fellow gamer's deal with the Hobby ADD?
