Necromunda |
Back by popular demand! The Necromunda board has been one of the center pieces of our games, and it is normally full. This is the GW Standard Necromunda Game played with up to 4 gangs in an gritty urban environment. As Origins progresses, so will the gangs. So each game over the run of Origins will work with the same gangs, but the capabilities will change over the run. Want to run a gang for the whole of Origins? Sign up for all the games. All materials will be provided. The big question is what color will the flamingos be this year? |
Zone Mortalis |
Fast paced skirmish action with rapid movement in a maze like board. ForgeWorld's Zone Mortalis played on a beautiful board with fantastic miniatures. The game uses the Zone Mortalis rules that are a free download from the FW website. Please see the 40KOrigins.com website for updates on this event. |
Thunder WAAAA! |
What do you get when you take Warhammer 40K's craziest creatures - the Grots and put them on Ork motorcycles racing on a tight figure 8 track, with blessings from the Weirdboyz and Big Mek that can make motorcycles run faster backwards, or drop spikes on the track behind the cycle. Add a few rowdy Orks in the stands with their usual guns and things can get pretty crazy. Laughter and fun fill this game that is appropriate for all ages. |
Warhammer Fantasy Intro |
This is an introduction to Games Workshop’s Warhammer fantasy game. The game covers the basics of movement, fighting, magic, etc. The game is designed to teach someone with no background in either miniatures gaming or Warhammer how to play the game. All materials are provided. |
Warhammer 40K Intro |
This is an introduction to Games Workshop Warhammer 40K 7th Edition. It is a great way to learn the basics or to catch up with the rules changes from previous version. All materials are provided. It starts with the most basic rules and builds to more advanced rules. Instructors welcome families. The time is filled with plenty of practice on movement, shooting, and game rules, so you walk away comfortable with the mechanics of the game. |
Warhammer Fantasy Multiplayer Tournament |
Instead 1 on 1 play, this multiplayer tournament takes full advantage of the Warhammer Fantasy’s supplement Triumph and Treachery. There will be two board side by side with 4 players on each board. You need to provide your own army. Up to 4 players will play on each board. Saturday evening will bring the top 4 players back for the final. Prizes will be awarded in the final. Additional details will be posted on 40KOrigins approximately 8 weeks before Origins. Placing in the tournament is based purely on gameplay. |

This is the standard Games Workshop Battle Fleet Gothic. This is an introduction to the game. All materials are provided. |
Blackwater Gulch |
Grab yer Shootin' Irons, and take to the streets to prove that you and your pack of hombres are the superior desperados in the territory, Bandits, Lawmen, and others shoot and brawl their way thru the town in this quick rules-lite game system. All materials provided, rules will be taught. More buildings, more places to hide and more fun. See if you can take control of the town and the bank or if you are in trouble with the law. This game sold out all weekend long in 2014, get your tickets early. |
Eight Army Challenge |
Want to play lots of 40K in one day? Want to test your knowledge of 40K against others. Want to try 8 different armies in 1 day? These skirmish level games pair unlikely units against each other. The small size of the games make them play quickly. Unlike other tournaments, this one uses rules that Games Workshop releases right up until Origins. Challenge yourself to dig deeply into your knowledge of Warhammer 40K. We will provide you with 8 different armies on boards with terrain that is designed for the pairing. You play 8 games, one with each army. It is not unusual for the winner of the tournament to go 5-3 during the day. Prizes for the winner. You only need to bring your knowledge of the game, we will provide everything else. Additional details will be posted on 40KOrigins approximately 8 weeks before Origins. |
Warhammer 40K Pair Tournament |
Standard 40K pairs tournament. Each team member brings up to 1000 points, your partner is your ally in this team tournament. You can come as a team or we will help you find a partner. Warhammer 40k Grand Tournament |

Wednesday Ogre Fest |
This is a 1 time event, a chance to play on a massive board with all the released units. Ogre 6th Edition comes in a box that is huge and so there needs to be a huge multiplayer game. With more than a dozen factions available, every player will get to set their own strategy. The rules are simple, the fun infective and it is so early in the convention, and you should not have any conflicts. Normally we get Pizza at some point during the game and share. |
Intro to Rivets |
CMON has released the first portion of their World War I era miniature game. Based on the Rivet's comic, the units are more steampunk than realistic and the game has a number of twists. This is an introduction to the game. You will get a chance to try out the Blitzkrieg units from the second wave of Rivets’ Kickstarter. |
Intro to Malifaux |
An introduction to Wyrd Miniature's Malifaux. Gangs of mutants, magic users, and sentient animals battle in this skirmish game. This is an introduction and required no background on the game, all of the materials are provided. |
Introduction to DropZone Commander |
Aliens have come to Earth, Earth has to respond. Hawk Wargame’s new invasion of the world game is infectious and a lot of fun. The smaller scale of miniatures allow epic battles. This intro will teach you everything you need to know to play the game, from the factions, to movement and shooting. The game will start with the very basics get you ready to play the game. We provide all of the materials, so all you have to do is to show up and play. OBTW – the models and the board are pretty too. |
Introduction to MERCS |
Few miniatures games offer the ability to own the whole faction for less than $100. MERCS is one of those few. This skirmish game has fast rules, with lots of flexibility that forces players to be very tactical. The introduction provides a step by step introduction to the game and the factions. Working from basic movement to how to handle heavy weapons. You will work with one faction during the introduction and see a second one across the table in the hands of your opponent. We will provide you with lots of practice so that the rules are engrained and you can easily play later. We will provide you with challenges during the introduction that will let you try your own tactics. You will play several multi-turn mini-games during the intro. All materials provided. |
The Warhammer 40K Build-Paint-Play Challenge |
Never have time to assemble and paint your miniatures? Then this one is for you. This is a day-long event. You bring 1 Headquarters unit and 1 Troop unit, both in the box and on the sprue and over the course of a day, build them, paint them to the best of your ability and then win a 3 round play-off with these units. Prizes will be awarded for build quality, painting quality and for winning the mini-tournament. Expect that during the challenge that people will stop by and watch, ask questions and make comments about what you are doing. You provide your choice of Warhammer 40K HQ, and troops in box, and your paint brushes. We will provide both brush on and spray primers, a range of paints, glues, green stuff, and other associated items. You will have an area setup to do your work in. Terrain Building Workshop |
Want your own terrain, but you don’t have the knowledge to build it? This workshop will take you through the tools, and steps required to build your own terrain. This workshop is hands on, allowing you to build along with your instructor. You will walk through every step of the process (except where large power tools are needed) from first making the basic terrain to priming, base coating, adding debris or texture, and then dry brushing and finishing the terrain off. Each person will walk away with a small hill that they did the final step on and the skills to replicate it at home. |
Warhammer 500 point speed tournament |
This is a 3 round tournament with 500 point armies, 1 headquarters unit and 1 troop unit is required. No allies, no detachments allowed. Please remember that you have to be able to complete a turn in 10 minutes or less when you assemble your army. Winner will be based on wins with a tie breaker of objectives taken and held in the games. Scenarios will be published on the 40korigin.com website approximately 4 weeks before Origins. |
Additional MERCS, Rivets, and Drop Zone Commander Games are likely. It is even possible we will do tournaments for Drop Zone Commander and MERCS.
