I have continued to work on this model in my spare time. Unfortunately it is Christmas, and work is flowing up again, but I still got some time in.
After cleaning the model up as best I could I gave the model a grey primer. This has two purposes. First it acts as a primer, but more importantly all the defects I missed, pop out when the model is in a neutral colour of grey.
At this stage I continued to fix any problems with the model, and let me tell you - they were many! In fact, in the end I gave up! This was just a project to improve this model and as with the
Conan model, I was not out to create a masterpiece. So in the end I decided to strick a compromise between quality and painting.
In the meantime, I thought the figure needed a bit of a story... and that means a cool base, something that accentuates his pose. So I opted for a corner wall section that he could rest against.
After figuring out the size and height of the wall section, the next step was its construction. I decided to build the whole thing from dense foam to keep it light. For the brick work I will be using cut-up foam from the same material and plaster bricks I bought off Ebay several years ago. All this would be glued together with wood glue.
Well that is all for this week. Next week I will continue with the wall section, so you will probably see a post on that before you see any further painting of the model. Hopefully, everything will be ready by Xmas.
