Yo,

Quick post re: the doom and gloom/end is nigh-ing people are going on with the round bases rumour. Admittedly I'm a little concerned if it does eventually pan out to be true for rank and file troops but so far the only image to go on is:

A pic with storm fiends on square bases with the skaven bell/wrecking ball things on oval ones. That's it. Nothing else besides the warmachines were on round bases. Think about it- if everything  were going to be rebased

1) Wouldn't the End Times have started this off?
2) Wouldn't every model be consistently based in the pic?
3) Are GW employees literally going to go to your house and force you at gunpoint to rebase your 250 model skaven army?

Seriously, the internet knee jerk reaction is akin to having the knee jerk and the lower limb get flung off into the distance. -_-

Another thing: Round bases have been in WHFB for years. Night goblin fanatics and the giant squig both are on round bases- no gnashing of teeth about them, especially when the latter was released 3-4 years ago. If anything the oval bases indicate either random movement or some other stand-alone thing for the warmachines. Until whole armies are shown on round bases the rumours should be treated like all rumours: plausible until proven either true or false.

This being said, the online "community" that exists for WHFB feels like it's being overrun by knee-jerk reactions and unnecessary raging. Sure people have invested financially and emotionally into their armies, but in reality, it's just painted plastic/metal/resin. Get over it. If your minis are invalidated/you disagree with the new ruleset/whatever then you can still use the miniatures for a different system, continue to paint them up or hell, like really, fucking hell, you could continue to play the current rules with your group if all of your feel the same way. It's almost as if noone can communicate with their gaming group and work out compromises. "But what about pick up games/ <insert argument here>"  -Simple, you either adapt to the new rules or to a different system. Failing that, go without if change is so large and terrifying for you that you can't work out a compromise to a game of little plastic dudes.

I swear, the community at large is rather inept at working together/communicating- which is probably why there's been no universal fix for 40k 7th as yet. Everyone's too busy being at each others throats. >.>

Blah. I'm in a sour mood. Time to disengage from the online sites and just block out that negativity.
