I got a good, nice and above all solid red on a test space marine last night- straight blood red over white does wonders. Sadly, it doesn't do anything for me now :( so I'm looking at schemes for blood angel successors. That and each individual marine takes so long to do (5 hours on one dude, I can pump out 10 orcs or 15 gobbos in 3). Back to successors though...
Knights, new plan... |
Possible candidates are the Knights of Blood as I've an urge to paint silver and the red is limited to the pauldrons and helmets. One thing I have learned through this is that I cannot paint red decently over any large area of space. That or I suck are painting space marines, either or.
Another line of thought entertains a custom successor chapter which involves possible red/dark grey or shadow grey colour as a main armour colour. Going to strip the minis, there's about 20 marines now to strip (oh myyyyyyy). What annoys me though with painting space marines is edge highlighting- some areas are just so damn fiddly.
Bleh.
