So things are starting to get a little crazy and I need to get caught up with my painting. Im attending the Caledonia Carnage Team Doubles tournament (hosted by Trev and Ryan at Common Ground Games) with Mike as bestest dice buddy and can’t wait. Unfortunately I need to paint 1200pts of Empire in just over a month (well 3 demis and stank are done lol) so with this in mind I thought I would set out a plan to get this painted.
In case you haven’t noticed im a big fan of plans (#OCD) as it helps keep my tiny, scatter brained mind in some semblance of order. Personally I use google calendar to layout a plan and set deadlines (use Microsoft calendar for work and my OCD doesn’t like mixing lol). I find this really helps me as I can see where I am against plan and if I need to put in extra hours to meet the deadline. I’m a big believer in front loading projects and breaking the back of it early so I don’t need to stress later on.
So here are my 1 month (ish) plan
17th April: Spray paint based army and applied PVA sealant paint mix. (WIP shots below)
18th April: Assemble Halberds and Knights
19th April: Finish 2 Wizards
26th April: Finish 3 Demigryphs
4th May: Finish 4 Knights
11th May: Finish 4 Knights
18th May: Finish 2 Knight and a Witch Hunter
20th May: Spray Movement Trays
23rd -24th May: CALEY Carnage!
After this I need to get another 6 Demis, 50 Halberds, 20 Archers, a cannon and 23 Spearman painted for August ish which might be a tall ask with my wedding coming up! Also want to do a few wee 40k models (in particular my inquisitor scale space marine). Going back and forth on my Grey Knight colour scheme and I am kinda thinking I might paint them as 1stcompany Ultramarines so I can dual use them to get more variety out of the army. Saw some amazing dark blue and NMM gold marines on twitter (pics below) which I want to emulate. After painting the Demis with the NMM blue I really think I could pull off a very cool GK/SM army….
I guess like everyone I have been a bit in limbo over 9thand as such I haven’t felt the drive to paint up a 2400pt army to my highest possible standard. That said painting has always been my primary driver and I painted for 2 years before I even played actual people lol! Anyway hopefully will have some finished pictures of my wizards this weekend, have been pondering up some fluff for them as a brother and sister story! Oh and I need to finally write up my arena of death ruleset for 5 man 1000pts character warhammer games!
