I bet you all noticed both Games Workshop and Forge World thought that it would be a good idea to put Space Marines on 32 mm instead of the old 28 mm bases. Well as I’ve said before I had to agree that this really looks better (to me) as they just look more massive themselves now. That’s a good distinction to regular guardsmen and other smaller models I daresay. We won’t get true scale marines soon, so that’s a good start after all. Also the Marines standing with their legs spread wide apart don’t look so narrowed on their bases anymore.
While this all sounds like a good plan for the new Marines one might paint the old stock of models already painted is on 28 mm bases. And mixing them would just look bad. So the choice was to put the new ones on 28 mm aswell or rebase the old ones. I went for the latter even though it is really not a fun thing to do.

Before I started the hassle of rebasing my SoH I assembled and painted a new Tactical Marine on a 32 mm base. I liked the result, thus the days of the 28 mm bases were numbered.

The new and the old. Choose for yourself if it is worth the effort or maybe it doesn't even make a difference to you?

Simultaneously to me painting some new Tactical Marines for a match with Flattervieh I am rebasing all my old SoH. The Veteran Squad came first.
