Wooo hoo!!! So after spending much more time than I anticipated (4 months of 10-15 hours a week on average!) I have finished 1200pts of my new Empire army ready for Caledonian Carnage this weekend. I’m playing double with Mike so it should be a lot of fun! My very, very filthy list is below for you to have a look at.

Really happy with how the army came out and is definitely technically the best army I have ever painted. There are a few bits I need to go back and do such as free hand on the banners (was in fit state at 2am to paint that and don’t have a clear idea of what I want to do) and I lost the proper shields for my second unit of demigryphs so they dwarven place holders (themey for the weekend actually!). Really can’t wait to get the army on the table, worryingly I haven’t played with a fully painted army since January!! Will unfortunately be taking the next few months off painting consistently as I step up my exercise and wedding planning (3 months tomorrow til I tie the knot!) so the empire will have to take a back seat. I’ve got a clear picture of what I want to paint up next for the empire to get it up to 2400-2500pts:
- 37 Halberdiers
- 22 Spearmen
- 10 Archers
- 2 Demigryphs
- 1 Cannon
- 1 Hellblaster
- 1 Engineer
- 2x WitchHunter
- 1x Arch Lector on foot.
That added to my current painted models gives me a pretty well rounded army which can do pretty much anything game wise.
Painting/Hobby wise I plan to do the following for the next 3 months:
- Inquisitor Scale Space Marine.
- 2-3 Test Grey Knights
- Strip and re-base the Grey Knights ready for their new paint scheme.
- Fisherman Guild Team (to be purchased!)
- Maybe some round based 9th edition Warriors of Chaos
Anyway im on a super hobby buzz at the moment and really look forward to building up the Empire, I just hope they are useable in 9th lol! Worst case scenario and I need to start afresh I will mothball the empire and slowly build up a warriors round base army (which I am actually really excited for tbh!).
