I've finished off Captain Karlaen, the 1st Company Captain and the last model from Deathstorm. I really like the look of this model. He's got more movement to him than most Terminators, and his armor is suitably ornate. I think he's a great looking centerpiece, which is nice because most of our characters are quite dated.

That said, his cloak was an absolute pain to paint. It was difficult to get to the underside, as well as the back of his legs. It didn't help that he's supposed to have a bone colored cloak lining, which looks great but needed some subtle shading. Not easy to do when you're struggling to get the brush into tight spaces. I'm not sure you could paint him before assembling him, but I would suggest painting him without a base; that way you could get under the cloak from below.

Also, maybe I'm just too strict about iconography, but it bothers me that he doesn't have a proper Blood Angels Chapter symbol molded onto him anywhere. Lots of blood drops and a few wings, sure, but none in the proper arrangement. I guess that's one perk of being a Captain. He should at least pick some more interesting personal heraldry.

Now that Deathstorm is complete, I'm going to take a short break from 40K to paint up the rest of the Dropzone Commander starter set. I'm really hoping to start playing it.
